or appointed for the city of Baltimore shall be approved
by the Judge of the Superior Court for Baltimore city.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 149.

In force.

AN ACT to provide for the appointment of a keeper of
the Records of the Court of Chancery.

Mar. 10, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the time when this
act shall take effect, the Register of the Court of Chan-
cery in office immediately preceding, shall be and he
is hereby constituted keeper of the Records of the court
of Chancery, and as such officer he shall take and sob-
scribe the oath prescribed in the constitution before the
Governor; and in case of vacancy happening in the of-
fice of a keeper as aforesaid, it shall be the duty of the
Governor to fill such vacancy by an appointment.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all the records and
papers belonging to the said court, then in the posses-
sion of the register in chancery, shall be in the custody
and safe keeping of the officer herein provided for,
whose duty it shall bo to record, and otherwise com-
plete the proceedings of the said court.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid keep-
er shall have the same power and authority to certify
copies and proceedings of the said court as are now
possessed by the said register, and where such certifi-
cates are required to be under seal, he shall use and
employ an appropriate seal to be provided for his office,
and he shall be entitled to demand and receive the
same fees and compensation as are now allowed by
law for the same, or similar services to the present re-
gister.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of the aforesaid keeper, without unnecessary de-
lay, to transmit to the several counties, and to the city
of Baltimore, all the cases and proceedings in said court
then undisposed of, and unfinished, at the expense of
the State.
