CHAPTER 145.

A FURTHER additional supplement to the act passed
December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-eight,
chapter one hundred and ninety-one, entitled an act
to provide for the establishment of district schools in
Charles county.

Duty of or-
phan's court.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall be the duty of the orphans
court of Charles county, and they are hereby authorised
to audit and adjust the accounts and claims of the pri-
mary school teachers of said county for the years
eighteen hundred and fifty-two and eighteen hundred
and fifty-three, and to ascertain the amounts due them
severally for each of said years, as teachers of said
schools, according to the provisions of the act to which
this is a supplement and the several supplements
thereto.

Authority to
levy.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when said accounts
shall be adjusted, the said court shall deliver to each
of said teachers, under the seal of said orphans court, a
certificate, showing the amount due for each of said
years, and the commissioners for said county shall at
their next meeting thereafter, for levying the county
levy, levy such sum or sums as may be necessary to
pay the same, for the use of the party holding said cer-
tificates in full for services, for the years for which said
account and certificate may be furnished.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after the passage thereof.
