necessary to carry out the objects of this act, to be paid
by said commissioners upon the certificate of the com-
missioners or a majority of them, appointed by the first
section of this act, to the party or parties who may
contract as aforesaid, for the carrying out of the objects

and provisions of this act; Provided, however, said

certificates of stock shall not be sold for less than their
par value, but if the said certificates cannot be sold on
such terms, the county commissioners are hereby au-
thorised to borrow money on the faith of said county,
for the aforesaid objects, and pledge said certificates for
the payment of the same.

Proviso.

SEC. 9, And be it enacted, That the county com-
missioners of Baltimore county, are hereby authorised
and directed, to fill any vacancy or vacancies that may
from any cause occur in the board of commissioners
appointed by the first section of this act, and that the
said commissioners thus appointed or may hereafter be
appointed by virtue of this section, shall receive a com-
pensation for their services of three dollars per diem
each, for every day they may be actually engaged in
the performance of duties prescribed by this act.

SEC. 10. And whereas, John Ridgely, of Hampton,
has agreed to give for an alms house farm in Baltimore
county, forty acres of good land within two miles of
Towsontown, in said county; Therefore, be it further
enacted, that the county commissioners of Baltimore
county, are hereby authorised and empowered to accept
of said land for the use of said county, if in their judg-
ment said land would be suitable for the future alms
house farm of said county.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That all the said
lot or lots of ground, or tract or tracts of land, which
may be acquired either by donation or purchase as
aforesaid, and all the said buildings shall at all times
be under the control, management and direction of the
county commissioners for Baltimore county.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That this act shall be
in force from, and take effect from the day of its pas-
sage.
