CHAPTER 124.

AN ACT to authorise an addition to the primary school
House in Bladensburg, in Prince George's county,
and the employment of an additional teacher therein.

Mar. 9, 1854.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Thomas Clements, Robert Wright
and William B. Galer, be, and they are hereby ap-
pointed commissioners, and they or majority of them
are authorised and empowered to contract for and super-
intend the erection of an addition to the primary school

George's county; Provided, the entire cost of said ad-
dition shall not exceed the sum of two hundred dol-
lars.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when the addition
to the said school house shall have been erected the
general board of trustees of primary schools for said
county are hereby authorised to employ a teacher there-
in until the local board of trustees shall be elected by
the patrons and tax payers of said school district as is
now required by law.

Employment

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That when the said
commissioner shall present to the county commission-
ers of Prince George's county, under oath the cost of
the erection of the addition to said school house, that
the county commissioners are hereby authorised to levy
upon the assessable properly of said county at their
first levy laying term thereafter a sum of money suffi-
cient to defray the cost of the addition to said school
house and payable to the said commissioners or their
order.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the teacher em-
ployed in said school shall receive the same compen-
sation as is allowed the teachers in the primary schools
in said county, and to be paid in the manner already
provided by law.

Compensation

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
