CHAP. 102.

tion district number ten; and the place of voting in
said district shall be at the town of Middleburg.

Appointment

of judges.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the judges of
elections for said district, shall be appointed at the
same time when the other judges of elections for said
county shall be appointed.

Vacancy —
how filled.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That in the event of the
death, removal from the county or refusal to serve, of
either of the commissioners named in this act the re-
maining commissioners are hereby empowered and re-
quired to fill such vacancy or vacancies.

Per diem.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall be each entitled to receive two dollars per
day for each day they shall be engaged in discharging
the duties imposed upon them by this act, to be assess-
ed and levied by the county commissioners of Car-
roll county, as other county charges are; which said
sums, when levied and collected, shall be paid over in
like manner as other county charges.

In force.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the time of its passage.

CHAPTER 102.

25, 1852.

AN ACT to refund a sum of money to James H.
Watkins, of N., Assignee of Edward Dorsey, of
R., paid by said Dorsey into the Treasury, on
account of the direct taxes, over and above the
amount with which he was property chargeable as
Collector of Taxes in Anne Arundel county, and to
appropriate a sum of money therefor.

refunded.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the State, upon
the warrant of the Comptroller, be, and he is hereby
authorised to pay to James H. Watkins, of N., as-
signee of Edward Dorsey, of R., the sum of forty-seven
dollars and eighty cents, paid into the treasury by the
said James H. Watkins, of N., for the said Edward
Dorsey, of R., on account of direct taxes due by the
said Edward Dorsey, of R., as collector, in the first,
collection district of Anne Arundel county, for the year
eighteen hundred and forty-seven, the said sum of for
