CHAPTER 92.

AN ACT to Refund to Thomas B. Billingsley,
Sheriff of Col-vert county, a Fine imposed on John
A. Cox, by the Judges of Calvert County Court,
which was paid by said Billingsley, and afterwards
remitted by the Executive.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer be, and he is autho-
rised and directed to refund to Thomas B. Billingsley,.
sheriff of Calvert county, the sum of twenty dollars,
being the amount of a fine imposed on John A. Cox,
by the judges of Calvert county court, which was paid
by said Billingsley, and afterwards remitted by the
Executive.

In force.

SEC. 2. And fa it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 93.

AN ACT to Alter and Amend the Charter of the
Cumberland Coal and Iron company, incorporated
by an Act entitled, an Act to Incorporate the Cum-
berland Coal and Iron company, passed at Decem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and forty, chapter
two hundred and fourteen.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It is suggested that the Cumberland
Coal and Iron company, a corporation created by the
act entitled, an act to incorporate the Cumberland
Coal and Iron company, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and forty, chapter two hundred and
fourteen, by certain alterations and amendments of its
charter, will be more able, more efficiently and certain-
ly, to accomplish the ends and purposes of its incorpo-
ration: And whereas, it is believed that the great works

of Internal Improvements of the State will be greatly
promoted by the successful prosecution of its business
by said company; And whereas, in the judgment of
this General Assembly, the object of the said corpora-
tion cannot be attained under general laws; Therefore,
