CHAPTER 356.
AN ACT to provide for the removal of the Live
Stock Scales, in Baltimore city, to Baltimore
county, and to authorise the Commissioners therein
named, to make sale of the land upon which the
said Scales are now located, and to purchase other
land whereon to place said Scales, in Baltimore
county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Thomas J. Rusk, Sterling Thomas
and Joseph Haines, be, and they are hereby appointed
commissioners, to make sale of the lot or parcel of land
on which the live slock scales in the city of Baltimore
are situated; and the said commissioners are hereby
required to give at least three weeks notice of said sale,
in some newspaper published in Baltimore city; and
they shall sell said parcel of land for cash, or partly for
cash and partly on credit, at public sale, as in their
judgment may seem most advantageous, and upon the
payment of the purchase money, said commissioners
ore hereby authorised to convey by good and sufficient
deed, said land, to the purchaser or purchasers thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said commission-
ers, or a majority of them, shall have full power and
authority to purchase other land in Baltimore county,
adjacent to said city, not to exceed twenty acres, and
not to be distant from the present live stock scales ex-
ceeding one-half of one mile, whereupon to erect said
live stock scales, which land shall be conveyed to the
State of Maryland; and it shall be the duty of said
commissioners, or a majority of them, to lay out and
divide said land, in such manner as will be most con-
venient for the purpose of safe keeping of live slock
intended to be weighed on said scales; and said com-
missioners, or a majority of them, are hereby authoris-
ed to contract for the election of said scales, and for the
buildings, fixtures and enclosures necessary to be con-
nected with said scales; Provided, nevertheless, that
the entire cost of the land and improvements shall not
exceed the sum of fifteen thousand dollars, and upon
entering into any contract for putting up said buildings,
fixtures or enclosures, they shall require from the con-
tractor or contractors, a bond, with good and sufficient
security for the faithful performance of the contract.
