CHAPTER 284.

AN ACT to authorise and empower the County
Commissioners of Allegany county to sell the Alms-
house property belonging to said county.

Authority to
sell.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the county commissioners of Alle-
gany county, be, and they are hereby authorised and
empowered, if in their judgment they deem it expe-
dient, to sell and dispose of the almshouse property

Proviso.

belonging to said county; Provided, however, that the
said commissioners shall not sell said property for less
than the amount of the purchase money originally
paid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said county
commissioners, in case they dispose of the present
Almshouse property, shall be authorised and empow-
ered, to purchase other property for an almshouse in
said county, for the reception of indigent persons, and
the monies arising from the sale of the present alms-
house property, shall he applied to the payment of the
same.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 285.

Incorporated.

AN ACT to Incorporate the Federal Hill Steam
Ferry Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That John S. Brown, E. A. Abbott, James
A. Bruce, Hugh A. Cooper and Daniel Holt, and their
associates, successors and assigns, be, and they are here-
by created a corporation and body politic, by the name
and style of the Federal Hill Steam Ferry company,
and by that name may have succession, and shall be
able and capable in law, to sue and be sued, to plead
and be impleaded, to make and use and alter a common
seal, ordain by-laws, and have generally all the pow-
ers necessary to carry on the business of the corpora-
tion.
