CHAPTER 232.

AN ACT to authorise and empower Nathaniel
Wiley and John W. Bowman, of Kent county, to
sell and dispose of a tract or parcel of Land in
said county, and the proceeds to be applied towards
building a Church in said county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Stephen Denning, of Kent county, con-
veyed by deed of indenture, in fee simple, made on
the second day of May, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and thirty-one, unto Pere-
grine Granger, Major Smith, Dobbs Joiner, Samuel
Coleman, James S. Primrose, Ezekiel Coleman and
Lemuel Coleman, of Kent comity, trustees for the
Methodist Episcopal church at Bel-Air, in the county
aforesaid, and their successors, all that part of a tract
or parcel of land, called Saint Tantons, lying and being
in Kent county, containing one acre of land, more or
less, as by reference to said deed will appear; And
whereas, the Methodist Episcopal church at Bel-Air,
are desirous to sell and dispose of the same for the pur-
pose of applying the proceeds thereof to the building

of a church tor the use of the said Methodist Episcopal
church at or near Bel-Air; Therefore,

Authority to

sell.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Nathaniel Wiley and John
W. Bowman, be, and they are hereby authorised and
empowered to sell and dispose of the said tract or par-
cel of land called Saint Tantons, at public or private
sale, for cash, or upon a credit as they, in their judg-
ment, may deem advisable, and to convey the same to
the purchaser or purchasers, by a deed in fee simple.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Nathaniel
Wiley and John W. Bowman, are hereby empowered
and directed to apply the money they shall receive for
the said lot to the building of the Methodist Episcopal
church now about to be erected in the neighborhood of
Bel-Air, for the use of said Methodist Episcopal
church.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the passage thereof.
