CHAP. 151.

court of said county, certifying the amount due such
witness from the State, for the time for which he was
in attendance on said court.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of
acts, inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be
and the same are hereby repealed.

In force.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 150.

AN ACT for the relief of Andrew Hope of Harford
County.

Authority to
levy.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly or Mary-
land, That the county commissioners of Harford
county, be, and they are hereby authorised, if in their
judgment it be just and proper, to levy on the assess-
able property of the said county, the sum of thirty dol-
lars annually, or so long as he may need the same, for
the support of Andrew Hope, and made payable to John
H. Kirkwood, for the use of said Andrew Hope.

CHAPTER 151.

AN ACT relating to the Maryland Penitentiary, and
appropriating a sum of money therein named.

Sum appro-
priated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the directors of the Maryland Peni-
tentiary, or any two of them, be, and they are hereby
authorised to draw on the Treasurer of the State of
Maryland, for the sum of ten thousand dollars, to be
expended by them in meeting the losses of that institu-
tion during the last fiscal year, and such as may have
since occurred, and that the Treasurer is hereby autho-
rised to make this payment on the warrant of the Comp-
troller, so soon as this bill shall have passed and be-
come a law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said directors,
or any two of them, be, and they are hereby autho-
rised to draw on the Treasurer of the State, at the end
