of each remaining quarter of the present fiscal year, of
the said Penitentiary, May thirty-first, August thirty-
first, and November thirtieth, eighteen hundred and
fifty-two, for the sum of two thousand dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, to be expended by them
in meeting any excess in the expenditures over the
receipts of the institution, which may occur from time
to time during the year.

CHAP. 151.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That at the end of the
first quarter of the fiscal year, commencing December
first eighteen hundred and fifty-two, and at the end of
every quarter thereafter, until this act shall have been
repealed, the said directors, or any two of them, be, and
they are hereby authorised to draw on the Treasurer

of the State, for the sum of two thousand dollars, to be
expended by them towards payment of the salaries of
the officers of the institution.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the directors of the
Maryland Penitentiary as aforesaid, are hereby required
within thirty days after the end of each fiscal year of
that establishment, to transmit to the Comptroller of
the State, an accurate detailed statement of all its re-
ceipts and disbursements during the year immediately
preceding, including the receipts from the treasury, and
if there shall be any surplus in the receipts over the
expenditures, to pay the same over to the Treasurer of
the State.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duly of the said directors, at the time of making their
annual report to the Executive, to transmit to that

officer, a similar statement to that required to be made
by them to the Comptroller of the State, which state-
ments are hereby required to be duly sworn to by the
Warden and Clerk of the Penitentiary, before some
justice of the peace of the City of Baltimore.

SEC. 0. And be it enacted, That so much of the
second section of the act of eighteen hundred and
thirty-seven, chapter three hundred and twenty, re-
lating to the Penitentiary, as provides that no director,
clerk or other officer, shall be eligible to the office of
Warden, until twelve months after the expiration of the
term for which he may have been appointed director,
clerk or other officer, be, and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

Repealed.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That all laws and parts

of laws, which are inconsistent with and repugnant to
the provisions of this act, be, and the same is hereby
repealed.
