dollars. For the rent of house for fire engine, belong-
ing to the State, fifty dollars. For the salary of the
Commissioner of the Land office, two hundred dol-
lars. For donations to colleges, academies and schools,
twenty-one thousand four hundred dollars. For the
annual appropriation to the Maryland Institute, for
the promotion of the mechanic arts, five hundred dol-
lars. For the payment of the several sums of money,
appropriated by law for the benefit of free schools, in-
cluding bonus from banks, dividends on bank stock,
standing to the credit of the school fund, and tax on
passengers on the Washington brunch of the Baltimore
and Ohio rail road, sixty-three thousand five hundred
and sixty-eight dollars and one cent. For the educa-
tion of the indigent deaf and dumb, three thousand
live hundred dollars. For the education of the indi-
gent blind, in addition to the fund already accumu-
lated for that purpose, two thousand dollars, for the
payment of Indian annuities, seventy-six dollars. For
the payment of the compensation allowed to the mem-
bers of the Appeal Tax Court of the city of Baltimore,
pursuant to the provisions of the act of December ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and forty-four, chapter two hun-
dred and thirty-four, one hundred and fifty dollars.
For the payment of the compensation allowed to the
Register of the city of Baltimore, pursuant to the pro-
visions of the aforesaid act of eighteen hundred and
forty-four, chapter two hundred and thirty-four, three
hundred dollars. For the payment to attorneys for
commission upon monies due to, and collected for the
State, one thousand five hundred dollars. For the pay-
ment of the interest falling due, quarterly, on the cur-
rency debt of this State, three hundred and ninety-four
thousand five hundred and twenty-five dollars and
thirty-six cents. For the payment of the interest on
the public debt, falling due semi-annually, and paya-
ble in London, including costs of exchange, remit-
tance and commissions, two hundred and seventy-two
thousand one hundred and fifty-three dollars and sev-

enty-eight cents; Provided, however, that all that por-
tion of the interest on the public debt, which at any
time dining the year, ending on the first day of Janu-
ary, eighteen hundred and fifty-three, shall be due on
that part of said debt which may constitute the sinking
fund of the State, shall be applied by the Treasurer
to the purchase of slocks or bonds of the State for the
increase of said fund. For the redemption of the
stock of this State, issued for the benefit of the Uni-
versity of Maryland, pursuant to the provisions of the
act of eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chapter
