CHAP. 119.

eighty-eight, thirty thousand dollars. For the invest-
ment by the Treasurer of the surplus monies remain-
ing in the treasury, in aid of the sinking fund, pursu-
ant to the provisions of the act of December session,
eighteen hundred and forty-six, chapter two hundred
and thirty-eight, four hundred thousand dollars; Pro-
vided, however, that such sum shall remain after meeting
all other demands on the Treasurer, And provided, fur-
ther, that no greater amount thereof shall be expended
for the purpose aforesaid, than will leave such balance,
as together with the revenue that may be received du-
ring the first quarter of the fiscal year, next succeeding
the passage of this act, will be sufficient, in the judg-
ment of the Comptroller and Treasurer, to meet all de-
mands upon the Treasury up to the first day of April,
in the year eighteen hundred and fifty-three. For the
salary of the Adjutant General, five hundred dollars.
For the salary of the Armorer at Eastern, three hun-
dred dollars. For the salary of the Armorer at Fre-
derick, three hundred dollars. For the following ex-
penses of the Judiciary, to wit: — For the salaries of the
four judges of the Court of Appeals, each two thou-
sand five hundred dollars, ten thousand dollars. For
the salary of the Chancellor, three thousand dollars.
For the salary of the judge of the first judicial circuit,
two thousand dollars. For the salary of the judge of
the second judicial circuit, two thousand dollars. For
the salary of the judge of the third judicial circuit, two
thousand dollars. For the salary of the judge of the fourth
judicial circuit, two thousand dollars. For the salary of
the judge of the Superior court of Baltimore city, two
thousand five hundred dollars. For the salary of the
judge of the Court of Common Pleas of the fifth judicial
circuit, two thousand five hundred dollars. For the salary

of the judge of the sixth judicial circuit, two thousand
dollars. For the salary of the judge of the seventh judi-
cial circuit, two thousand dollars. For the salary of the
judge of the eighth judicial circuit, two thousand dollars.
For the salary of the judge of the Criminal court of Balti-
more, two thousand dollars. For the incidental expen-
ses of the Judiciary, including the office of the clerk

of the Court of Appeals, and the office of the Regis-
ter in Chancery, and the per diem allowance to the
sheriff, crier and messenger therein, ten hundred dol-
lars. For the payment of the State's subscription for
two hundred copies of the sixth, and two hundred,
copies of the seventh volume, Gill's Reports of the De-
cisions of the Court of Appeals, two thousand dollars.
For the payment of pensions, five thousand three hun-
dred and seventy-two dollars. For the salary of Tench
