business of said congregation, and superintend and pro-
tect the property thereof.

CHAP. 119.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the male mem-
bers of said congregation, over the age of twenty-one

years, or a majority of them, shall be able to ordain
and establish such by-laws and ordinances as shall ap-
pear necessary for regulating the spiritual and temporal
concerns of said congregation, and for governing the
proceedings of said elections, and for promoting the ob-
jects of this incorporation not being repugnant to this
act, nor to the laws of this State, or of the United

States; Provided, that no alteration be made in the
present mode and form of worship, and in the rites and
ceremonies now used in the said congregation, except
with the assent of two-thirds of the male members in
attendance at a regularly called meeting of said con-
gregation.

Proviso.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall have
effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 119.

In force.

AN ACT making Appropriations for the Support of
the Government for the present year.

30, 1852.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That for the expenditure in the support

of the government for the present year, ending on the
first of January, eighteen hundred and fifty-three, in-
cluding the expense of the several departments and

offices, the following sums of money, or so much thereof
as may be necessary, be, and the same are hereby ap-
propriated; that is to say: For compensation granted
by the Constitution of this State, and the laws thereof,
to the members of the Senate and House of Delegates,
their officers and attendants (the salaries of the Secre-
tory and Chief Clerk of the respective houses excepted)
in addition to the appropriation already made for that
purpose, and also for the contingent expenses of the
General Assembly, thirty thousand dollars. For the
salary of the Secretary of the Senate three hundred
dollars. For the salary of the Chief Clerk of the
House of Delegates, three hundred dollars. For the
expense of printing and distributing the laws and re-
solutions, the journals of the Senate and House of
