CHAPTER 115.

An act to change the mode of repairing the public
roads in Worcester county.
|
Passed Dec. 27,
1811.
|
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall be the duty of the several
overseers of the roads in Worcester county, to collect
from persons neglecting to work on the public roads
in said county, the fines imposed by law for such ne-
glect, and with the money so collected, to hire persons
to work on the roads over which they are overseers
respectively.

AND BE IT ENACTED, That if any overseer
shall neglect for two months to recover and apply as
aforesaid the fines imposed by law upon persons ne-
glecting to work on the public roads, such overseer
shall forfeit and pay a sum of money not exceeding
twenty dollars, and not less than five dollars, to be re-
covered by action of debt before a justice of the
peace of the county, one half of which shall go to the
informer, the other half to the use of Worcester
county.

AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court of
said county shall be empowered to appoint as many
overseers in said county as they may see proper.

AND BE IT ENACTED, That all laws relating
to roads in Worcester county inconsistent with this
act be, and the same are hereby repealed.

An act to authorise Joseph Greenawalt and Eman-
uel Brower, of Frederick county, to sell and
convey certain land therein mentioned.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly by the petition of George Yandis, John Da-
gen, Isaac Atlie, Jacob Landes, Ludwick Green-
wood, Philip Greenwood and Peter Engle, that they,
together with sundry other persons of Frederick
county, purchased in the year one thousand seven hun-
dred and sixty-eight, of a certain Philip Greenawalt,
four acres of land for the purpose of erecting a school-
house; that since the erection of said school, all the
