CHAPTER 27.

1811.

An Act for the benefit of Elizabeth M'Leain, of
Talbot county.

Passed Dec. 27,
1811.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly, by the petition of Elizabeth M'Leain, of Tal-
bot county, the widow of John M'Leain, late of said
county, deceased, that he the said John M'Leain pur-
chased of a certain James Lambdin, then of said
county, certain real property in the town of St. Mi-
chaels, in Talbot county aforesaid, to. wit: Lot No.
2, and part of lot No. 1, as described in the deed of
conveyance from the said James Lambdin, to the said
John M'Leain, bearing date the thirtieth day of Sep-
tember eighteen hundred and five, and recorded
among the land records of said county. And whereas,
some doubts have arisen as to the title of the said Eli-
zabeth M'Leain, to the said property in the said deed
of conveyance described, in consequence of a supposi-
tion that the said John M'Leain being a native of ire-
land, may not have been regularly naturalized, agreea-
bly to the laws of the United States, and of this state:
Therefore,

Preamble.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the title obtained by the said John
M'Leain, to the aforesaid property, be, and the same
is hereby made as perfect and complete, to all intents
and purposes, and shall descend to, and vest in his
legal representatives, in the same manner a. s if the said
John M'Leain had been naturalized agreeably to the
laws of the United States, before the said purchase
was made, any law of this state to the contrary not-
withstanding. Provided always, That nothing in this
act contained, shall in any manner defeat or affect
any right, title or claim to the said property, or any
part thereof, acquired or prosecuted by any person
or persons whatever, before the passage of this act.

act entitled, " An act to establish a Market in
Elizabeth Town in Washington county, " and for
the better regulation of the same.
