Resolutions authorising the Governor to procure and
present to Brigadier General Bennet Riley, a sword.
Resolved unanimously by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the General Assembly of Maryland,
entertain a high sense of gallantry, skill and good
conduct of Bennet Riley, a native of Saint Mary's
County, in this State, and now a Brigadier General in
the Army of the United States, as evinced by his servi-
ces during the late war with Great Britain, and by
his intrepidity and heroism, displayed in the brilliant
operations of the war in Mexico.
Resolved unanimously, That for the purpose of
evincing our admiration for such honorable services,
and as an expression of the high regard in which he
is held by his native State, that the Governor be and
he is hereby authorised and required to procure and
present to Brigadier General Bennet Riley, a sword
with suitable devices and ornaments, and the Gover-
nor is hereby authorised to draw on the Treasurer
of Maryland, for such sum of money as may be
necessary for the fulfilment of these resolutions.

Resolution in favor of James Boyle, Junior, and C.
C. Holtzman.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Treasurer be and he is directed to pay to
James Boyle, Junior and C. C. Holtzman, or order,
the sum of eight dollars each, for two day services as
committee clerks to the Senate.
