CHAPTER 522.

CHAP. 523.

Ah act entitled, an act to authorise the Levy Court of
Queen Anne's county to appoint a collector to close
the collections of Thomas W. DeCoursey, late of
said county, deceased.

Mar. 6, 1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Levy Court of Queen Anne's
county, be and they are hereby authorised to appoint
Some suitable person to close the collection of Thomas
W. DeCoursey, deceased, late the collector of the
county taxes in said county, and the person so ap-
pointed shall give such bond to the State, as the court
shall deem sufficient.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the person so ap-
pointed shall have full power and authority to proceed,

as the county collector for said county is now autho-
rised to do, until the last day of December, eighteen
hundred and fifty-one.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That no person or per-
sons from whom any taxes or balances of taxes shall

be demanded, under the provisions of this act, shall
be compelled to pay the same; provided, such person
or persons shall make affidavit before a justice of the
peace, that such taxes, or balances of taxes have been
paid or satisfied.

Affidavit to bar
claim.

An act for the relief of James Harper, of Prince
George's county.

1850.

WHEREAS, it is represented to the General Assembly

of Maryland, by the petition of James Harper, Regis-
ter of Wills of Prince George's county, and many
property holders of said county, that since the eleventh
day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
forty-five, the said Register has performed certain ser-
vices imposed on him by the act of December session,
eighteen hundred and twenty-five, chapter one hun-
dred and fifty-seven, without any compensation, and
have recommended that he be paid for said services
out of the school fund of said county, and also for
