CHAP. 521.

against the corporation, the funds and assets of the
company only to be liable tor debts due, damages or
or other claims by the corporation.

First directors.
|
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the persons named
in this act are hereby constituted directors, with power
to chose, from among their number, a president, and
that they be further empowered to act as, and exer-
cise all the powers of president and directors under
this law, until superseded by an election of directors,
pursuant to the provisions of this act.

Banking forbid.
|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corpora-
tion to issue any note, token, scrip, device, or other
evidence of debt, to be used as currency.
|

Reservation.
|
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the Legislature re
serves to itself the right to alter or annul this act of
incorporation at pleasure.

An act to allow Thomas Keller, farmer Sheriff of
Washington county, further time to complete his
collections.
|
|
|
May collect.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Thomas Keller, former Sheriff of
Washington county, shall be and is hereby allowed
until the first day of March, eighteen hundred and
fifty-two, to complete the collection of all fees due
him as Sheriff as aforesaid, in the same manner as he
might have done whilst in office.

Oath required.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Thomas
Keller, before he proceeds to make his collections un-
der this law, shall serve on the party or parties charged,
a notice of the amount charged, and the particulars
thereof, to which shall be annexed an affidavit taken
before some justice of the peace of this State, that the
sum so charged is bona fide due.
