1849.

sum or sums of money as they may conceive to be ne-
cessary, at an interest not exceeding six per centum per
annum, in anticipation of the levies to be made under
this law, which said loan or loans shall be appropriated
and applied by them to the erection of said jail, and to
insure the repayment of the said sum or sums of money,
with imprest, thereon, the said commissioners shall be
and they are hereby authorised to assign and transfer to
the lender or lenders thereof, any part or parts of the be-
fore mentioned taxes, to be annually collected as afore-
said, which lender or lenders, shall in such case, have
all the right and privileges in enforcing the payment to
them of the said taxes, that the commissioners should
have had, if such transfer had not been made.

CHAP. 503.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That in case any of the
commissioners herein named, and hereby empowered to
cause the said new jail to be erected, shall refuse, die,
remove or become incapable to act, the residue, or a
majority of them, shall till up the vacancy or vacancies,
and so, as often as may be, to carry this act into effect.

Vacancies—
how filled.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of Allegany county, are hereby authorised, directed and
required, to allow to the commissioners appointed by this
act, who shall attend to the duties assigned them, such
reasonable compensations as they, or either of them, may
be entitled for punctual and extraordinary attention, and
also to levy the same for collection, as other charges are
levied.

Compensation.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of
acts repugnant hereto, or inconsistent herewith, are here-
by repealed and abrogated.

An act to divorce Rachel Mousley, of Cecil County,

from her husband, John Mousley.

Mar. 9, 1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the marriage contract heretofore
had and solemnised between Rachel Mousley, of Cecil
county, and John Mousley, be and the same is hereby
declared to be, henceforth and forever, null and void,
and the said Rachel Mousley and John Mousley, are
hereby declared to be divorced, a vinculo matrimonii.

Divorced.
