1849.

commissioners to locate and open a road in Allegany
county, to commence at a point on the Baltimore
Turnpike Road, about three and a half miles east of
Cumberland, and running thence by the nearest and
most practicable route, until it intersects the public
road called the Williams road, near Louis Davidson's,
about four miles from the town of Cumberland.

CHAP. 479.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said road shall not
be located or cleared out more than thirty, nor less
than sixteen feet wide, and not pass through any yard,
orchard, garden, or the lands of any person, without
their consent.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall cause a plat and certificate of said road

to be made out and returned to the commissioners of
Allegany county, so that the road be placed on the list
of public roads in Allegany county, the cost of which
plat and certificate, and charges of said commissioners
shall be paid by Allegany county; provided, the same
shall not exceed the sum of fifty dollars.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That after said road
shall have been opened and made at the proper cost
and charge of the parties interested, and made fit for
wagons to pass over, then it shall be the duty of the
commissioners of Allegany county to provide means,
in the ordinary way, to keep up said road.

CHAPTER 479.

How road is to
be kept up.

An act to allow Samuel Day, Collector of State and

County Taxes, of the Second Collection District of
Anne Arundel County, further time to complete his
collections.

Passed Mar. 9,
1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Samuel Day, collector of the se-
cond collection district of Anne Arundel county, be
and he is hereby authorised and empowered to collect
any taxes, or balance of tax now remaining due to
and uncollected by him, in the district aforesaid, in
the same manner and with the same power and privi-
leges as are allowed by the existing laws, in such case
made and provided.

Time allowed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Samuel
Day shall, in every instance, before he shall proceed
