defended, in all and any courts of justice, and before all
or any judges, officers or persons whatsoever, in all and
singular actions, matters and demands whatsoever.

CHAP. 352.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful for the said corporation to receive, retain or dis-
pose of at pleasure, property, real and personal, all de-
vises or bequests of any person or persons, bodies cor-
porate or politic, capable of making the same.

May hold prop-
erty.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it may and shall be
lawful for the said corporation to have and use a com-
mon seal, and the same to alter and renew at. pleasure,
and generally to do all legal acts and things as shall be
necessary to carry into effect the objects of the said cor-
poration.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to allow the said corporation to
issue any note, token, scrip or device to be used as a
currency.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted. That the said corpora-
tion shall not be authorised to hold real or personal pro-
perty exceeding in amount the sum of twenty thousand
dollars, and that the said corporation shall be empower-
ed to declare such semi-annual or yearly, as may arise
from the surplus profits accruing from the earnings of
the said corporation.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall enure
for thirty years, and that the Legislature hereby reserves
to itself the right to alter and annul this act at plea--
sure.

CHAPTER 352.

In force.

An act to change the name of Mary Ann Fisher, a re-
sident of Baltimore City.

Passed Mar. 6,
1850.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of Mary Ann Fisher, a resident of Bal-
timore city, be and the same is hereby altered and
changed to Mary Ann Adreon, and it shall be lawful for
the said Maty Ann Fisher, at all times hereafter to be
called and known by and hold and use the name of
Mary Ann Adreon, and by that, name to purchase, sell,
convey or devise, to sue and to be sued in any court of
law or equity.
