1849.

six, Sons of Temperance, of the State of Maryland,
and by that name may sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, and have a common seal, and the same to
alter and renew at pleasure, and to use all the powers
and privileges incident to such corporations.

CHAP. 276.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpora-

tion shall be capable of taking and holding real and

personal estate, not exceeding in value the sum of
twelve thousand dollars, which estate shall never be
divided among the members of the corporation, but
shall descend to their successors, for the benevolent
relief of the sick and distressed, the education of the
orphans of its members, and for the promotion of
those purposes, and the cause of temperance gene-
rally.

Objects of the
corporation.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this corporation
shall have power to make bye-laws, and the same to
alter and amend at their pleasure; provided, that they

do not conflict with the laws of the State of Maryland,
the laws of the United States, or the laws of the Grand
Division.

Proviso.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act of incor-
poration shall continue and be in force for thirty years
from its passage, and the Legislature reserves to itself

the right to alter, amend, or annul the same at plea-
sure, and nothing in this act shall be construed so as
to authorise the said corporation to issue any note,
token, device, scrip, or other evidence of debt, to be
used as a currency.

An act for the relief of Jacob Bohn, of the City of
Baltimore.

Passed
March 6, 1850.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of insolvent debtors for the
city and county of Baltimore, be and they are hereby
authorised and empowered to grant to Jacob Bohn, of
the city of Baltimore, the benefit of the several acts of
Assembly, passed for the relief of insolvent debtors;

May have ben-
efit.

provided, that the said Jacob Bohn shall in all other re-
spects comply with the requisitions of said acts of Assem-
bly, notwithstanding the application of the said Jacob
