contract or for any engagement, debt or claim against the
corporation; the joint stock property, money and effects
of said company only, to be liable for the debts and
claims of every kind upon the corporation, and that the
service of any legal process on any one of the directors
shall be considered a sufficient service upon the corpo-
ration.

CHAP. 203.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the persons named
in this act are hereby constituted directors, with power
to choose from among their number a president, and
that they be hereby further empowered to act as, and
exercise all the powers of president and directors, under
this law, until superseded by an election of directors,
pursuant to the provisions of this act.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration is hereby prohibited from issuing any note, or e-
vidence of debt to be used as currency.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves to itself the right to repeal this act at pleasure.

CHAPTER 203.

An act authorising the sale of a certain Public House,
in Worcester County.

Passed
Feb. 26, 1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That James M. Holland, Jacob
Payne, John S. Jones, John W. Jones, and William
Payton, or any three of them, be and they are hereby
authorised and empowered, after they shall have given
at least ten days notice thereof, set up in writing at the
door of each store house in the village of Sandy Hill,
sell and dispose of in any way they may deem proper,
a certain house situated near said village, sometimes
called the Union school house, or old school house, and
apply the money for which the same may be sold to the
repairing of the public school house at or near said vil-
lage owned by the commissioners of said county, at
any time and in such manner as the trustees in that
school district may deem advisable.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said
Holland and others, be and they are hereby authorised
upon the payment of the purchase money of said, house to
