1849.

SEC. 2: And be it enacted, That the said duty of
publication, according to the provisions of the first
section hereof is hereby imposed upon all incorporated
institutions that are in the habit of receiving deposits

or declaring dividends.

CHAP. 137.

Upon what in-
stitutions im-
posed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the expenses in-
curred by the said banks or corporations, in carrying

into effect the provisions of this act, shall be paid out
of the deposites or dividends unclaimed or uncalled
for as aforesaid, in proportion to their several amounts.

CHAPTER 137.

Expenses—
how paid.

An act to allow Washington Finley, late Collector of
Queen Anne's County, further time to complete his
collections.

Passed Feb. 7;
1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Washington Finley, collector of
the State tax for eighteen hundred and forty-one, also
the county tax for eighteen hundred and forty-two,
for Queen Anne's county, be and he is hereby autho-
rised to collect any and all taxes or balances of taxes
due to him, and now remaining uncollected for the
several years in which he was collector of the taxes
in the said county, in the same manner and with the
same privileges and powers he could or might have
done within the time limited by law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Washing-
ton Finley, before he proceeds to collect under and by
virtue of this act, shall make out and deliver to the
person or persons from whom any taxes, or balances
of taxes, may be demanded, an account of the taxes
or balances due from such person or persons, and an-
nex thereto an affidavit that the same is due and un-
paid.

Oath required.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That no person or per-
sons, from whom any taxes, or balances of taxes, shall
be be demanded under the provisions of this act, shall
be compelled to pay the same; provided, such person
or persons shall make affidavit before a justice of the
peace, that such taxes, or balances of taxes have been
paid and satisfied.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the authority here-
by given shall continue until the first day of June, in
