1849.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Henry
Devries shall, in every instance, before he shall pro-
ceed to the aforesaid collection, make affidavit, before
some justice of the peace for Carroll county, that the
same remains unpaid, and that he has not received
any security or satisfaction for the same, or any part
thereof, more than the credit allowed thereon.

CHAP. 16.

Make oath.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall not
continue in force longer than one year from its pas-
sage.

CHAPTER 16.

In force.

A further supplement to the act entitled, an act to in-
corporate the Washington Coal Company, passed at
December Session eighteen hundred and forty-five,
chapter two hundred and fifty-five.

Passed Jan. 19,
1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Washington Coal Company
be and they are hereby authorised to increase the
capital stock of said company twenty-five hundred
shares of one hundred dollars each.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the president and
directors of said company be and they are hereby au-
thorised to receive additional subscription to their
capital stock, as provided by the first section of this
act, at such times and places as they, or a majority of
them, may designate.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may
be lawful for the said Washington Coal Company to
hold and possess so much land as may, in the discre-
tion of the said company, be necessary for their pur-
poses, not exceeding two thousand acres.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That from and after the
passage of this act, the number of directors of said
company may be increased to nine.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the Legislature re-
serves to itself the right to repeal, alter, or amend this
act of incorporation at pleasure.
