Preamble and resolutions in relation to a Digest of the
Public General Statutory Laws of Maryland, by H.
Stout.
WHEREAS H. Stout, of the city of Baltimore, pro-
poses to publish in three octavo volumes of six hundred
or seven hundred pages each, a Digest of the Public Ge-
neral Statutory Laws of Maryland, with references to
every exposition thereof, either in argument or decision
by the Court of Appeals of the State, also references to
the decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States,
and to Elementary Treatises, both English and American,
with a correct general index to the whole; and whereas,
the paid Stout solicits a subscription on the part of the
State of Maryland for three hundred copies of the said
work when published, at fifteen dollars per copy —
Therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Librarian of the State be and he is hereby au-
thorised and directed to subscribe in the name of the
State for three hundred copies of the said work when
published, at fifteen dollars per copy; provided, that three
judges of the Court of Appeals of this State shall
certify upon an examination of the said work that it is
an accurate and faithful execution of said work, accord-
ing to the terms of the aforesaid proposal of the said H.
Stout.
And be it further resolved, That upon an exhibition of
the certificate of the said judges of the Court of Appeals,
and a delivery of the said three hundred copies of the
said work to the Librarian of the State in Annapolis,
the Treasurer of the State of Maryland be and he is
hereby directed to pay, after the first day of April eigh-
teen hundred and forty-nine, to the order of the said H.
Stout, out of any monies in the treasury not otherwise
appropriated, the price of the said three hundred copies,
hereinbefore specified.
