RESOLUTION.

his native State, be and the same are hereby tendered to
Lieutenant John Contee, United States Navy, for his
gallant conduct during the present war with Mexico.
Resolved, That His Excellency the Governor be re-
quested to transmit a copy of this preamble and resolu-
tions to Lieutenant Contee.

Resolutions relative to the re-organization of the Militia
of this State.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commanding officers of the several military divisions,
brigades, regiments and companies in State of Maryland,
be and they are hereby ordered and required to enrol or
cause to be enrolled, their several and respective com-

mands, on or before the fourth day of July next, and
report return of the same to the Adjutant General of
Maryland, on or before the first day of September next.
Resolved, That the name of any militia officer of this
State failing to comply with the above requisitions, shall
be stricken from the roll of military appointments in this
State.
Resolved, That all existing acts of Assembly regulat-
ing the militia and militia trainings, be and they are
hereby declared in full force and virtue in law, and
that there shall be at least in each and every year, two
company parades for drill and discipline, on the first
Saturday in April and June in each year, and that
there shall be at least one battalion or regimental
parade, in the discretion of the field officers, for drill
and discipline, on the first Saturday in August, and
that there shall be at least one regimental or brigade
parade, in the discretion of the general officers, for drill
and discipline, on the first Saturday in November, and
also such parades of the company and field officers for
drill and discipline, not exceeding four in any one year,
as in the opinion of the general field officers may be ne-
cessary to a proper degree of instruction in their respec-
tive duties, and that all fines, forfeitures and penalties
allowed to be inflicted under the act of eighteen hundred
and thirty-four, chapter two hundred and fifty-one, for
non-attendance and other causes therein recited, upon
the days of parade above named, he and the same are
