No. 81.

Resolution in favor of Richard Swann and George G.
Brewer.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the State be and he is hereby directed
to pay to Richard Swann and George G. Brewer, each
the sum of thirty-seven dollars and filly cents, being the
balance remaining in treasury of the appropriation made
by resolution number 54, of December session eighteen
hundred and forty-six, in consideration of services ren-
dered by them under resolution Number 36, of eighteen
hundred and forty-five.

Resolution appointing the Honorable Thomas G. Pratt,
a Director in the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Rail Road
Company.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Honorable Thomas G. Pratt be and he is hereby ap-
pointed director on the part of the State in the Anna-
polis and Elk Ridge Rail Road Company, in the place

of William T. Wootton, who declined.

Preamble and resolutions tendering the thanks of the

legislature to Lieutenant John Contee, for his gallant

conduct during the present war with Mexico.

WHEREAS, Lieutenant John Contee, of the United
States Navy, a native of Prince George's county, in this
State, having distinguished himself by his gallantry and
intrepidity at the attack on Alvalado and Tobasco, as
well as in the naval operations up the Tobasco river, and
in the occupation of Tampico, Laguno and Frontera —
Therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That the thanks and congratulations of the legislature of
