No. 67.

1847.

Preamble and resolution in relation to transcribing a

certain record book in the Adjutant General's office.

WHEREAS, it appears from examination that the record
book in the office of the Adjutant General of Maryland,
wherein is recorded the names, rank and date of com-
mission of the officers of the militia, is in a ruinous and
defaced condition — Therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Adjutant General be and he is hereby authorised to
transcribe and enter in a book to be purchased for that
purpose, the names, rank and date of commission of the
several officers who now are, or who may hereafter be
appointed, for the preservation of the same, and that the
Governor be authorised to allow such compensation for
the performance of said duty, to be paid out of any un-
appropriated money in the treasury, as he may deem ade-
quate for the services performed.

Resolutions relative to the Inspectors in the State To-
bacco Warehouses.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of these resolutions, it shall
be the duty of each of the State Tobacco Inspectors to
return quarterly, under the oath of himself and that of his
chief clerk, an account of all money expended by him
for labor and other necessaries furnished for the use of
the warehouse whereof he shall be inspector, said ac-
count setting forth the various items for which such
money has been expended, with proper vouchers for the
same, which account when so rendered and proved shall
be allowed by the treasurer at the quarterly settlement
of the inspector's accounts.
And be it resolved, That no inspector or inspectors
shall be allowed or receive any larger sum for labor or
other necessaries furnished than he or they have actual-
ly paid for the same.
And be it resolved, That it shall be the duty of the in-
spectors on the first day of April eighteen hundred and
forty-eight, to enter into a contract with some responsi-
