RESOLUTIONS.

1847.

ground rents, under the acts of eighteen hundred and
forty-one, chapter three hundred and twenty-nine, and
eighteen hundred and forty-two,chapter two hundred
and ninety-four, section two, which laws have been
pronounced unconstitutional by the Court of Appeals;
provided, that the treasurer is satisfied by properly au-
thenticated proofs in each case that such sums have been
really paid as aforesaid, by the person in whose name
the application is made for the benefit of this resolution.

No. 28.

Resolution in favor Priscilla Jackson, the legal repre-
sentative of Elizabeth Frazier, deceased.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the treasurer be and he is hereby directed to pay Pris-
cilla Jackson, the legal representative of Elizabeth Fra-
zier, out of any money not otherwise appropriated, the
sum of eight dollars, being the balance of pension due
to the said Elizabeth Frazier at her death.

Preamble and resolutions expressive of the sorrow of the
General Assembly, upon the death of John Quincy
Adams, ex-President of the United States.

WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Maryland has
learned with profound grief the intelligence of the death
of John Quincy Adams, ex-President of the United
States, as a tribute of respect to his memory,
Be it unanimously resolved by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it is not purposed to pass a studied
eulogy on the character of .the distinguished deceased,
but to offer the spontaneous homage of American hearts
to the memory of one who as a scholar, a statesman
and a man has, by his long and faithful devotion to his
country ever won her love and gratitude, and dying as he
lived in her service, claims her deepest sorrow.
And be it unanimously resolved, That this General
Assembly sincerely condoles with Mrs. Adams in her
bereavement of him, whose public worth was equalled
