CHAP. 328

sponsible for
penalties of
minors.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any fine under
the second section of this act shall be imposed upon
any minor the parent, guardian or master, in case of
apprentice, shall be answerable for the same with costs,
and upon failure to pay in five days said fine the person or
persons violating the provisions of this act shall be im-
prisoned in the common jail of said county for a period
not exceeding thirty days nor less than five days, in the
discretion of the justice imposing the fine.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said clerk to
hire out or suffer to be used the court hall for any pur-
pose whatsoever unless it be to allow the people of said
county to assemble and deliberate upon questions touch-
ing the public interest, and for the administration of jus-
tice.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all expenses incurred
by the clerk under the provisions of this act shall be
paid for by the commissioners' board of Washington
county, that all acts or parts of acts inconsistent with
the provisions of this act, be and the same are hereby
repealed.

An act to incorporate the North Branch Bridge Com-
pany.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, by an act of the General Assembly of
Virginia, passed at its present session, certain corporate,
privileges were therein granted, authorising the erection of
a toll bridge over the North Branch of the Potomac
river, at the point where said liver is crossed by the
Cacapon and North Branch Turnpike; and whereas, by
provisions of that act the assent of the legislature of
this State is necessary to give validity to them — There-
fore,

Consent of the
State of Ma-
ryland given.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the assent of the State of Maryland is hereby
given to the provisions of an act of the General Assem-
bly of Virginia, passed at its present session, authorising
a joint stock company to construct a toll bridge over the
North Branch of the Potomac river at the point where
