of them, be and they are hereby authorised, at such
times and places as they may designate, to open books
of subscription, and that when two hundred shares of
an hundred dollars each be subscribed, the sharehold-
ers shall become and they are hereby incorporated in

rights, powers and privileges, and be subject to the
limitations and restrictions provided and granted by the
act to incorporate the Union company, except such as
are contained in the twelfth and fourteenth sections of
the said act, which rights and privileges, as granted by
the said twelfth and fourteenth sections, and the conditions
and restrictions therein provided, are expressly reserved
and are not hereby enacted.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the shareholders
pay at such time and place as they may deem it expe-
dient, organise the said Hope company, by appointing a
president and directors who may from time to time in-
crease their capital stock, and purchase other lands, and
proceed to open and work their mines and manufacture

iron and other articles; provided, the capital stock and
lands aforesaid shall at no time exceed that which the
said Union company is authorised to hold; and provided
also, that the said Hope company may subscribe for and
own shares in the Potomac Navigation company, and
that nothing herein contained shall be construed to inter-
fere with or prejudice the rights of the said Potomac
Navigation company, or of the Chesapeake and Ohio ca-
nal company.

Provisoes.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
contained, shall be so construed to confer any banking
privilege, or to deprive the State of the right of amend-
ment at her discretion.

Reservation.

An act to incorporate the Buena Vista Coal company of
Allegany county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That George McCulloh, Moses Rawlings
and Charles C. McCulloh, and all and every person who
shall become associated with them in the manner here-
inafter prescribed, shall he and they are hereby incor-
porated by the name of the Buena Vista Coal company
