LAWS OF MARYLAND.

May hold land
in Montgome-
ry county.

In force.

Legislature of the State of Maryland to purchase and
hold lands in the said county of Montgomery, in the said

State of Maryland, at and near the Great Falls of the

Potomac river; in one or more tracts not exceeding two

thousand acres—Therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That the Great Falls Manufacturing compa-
ny, being a company incorporated by an act of the Le-
gislature of Virginia for manufacturing purposes, at and
near the Great Falls of the Potomac river, passed on
the fourth day of February, eighteen hundred and thir-
ty-nine, and amend an act to amend and revive an
act to incorporate the Great Falls Manufacturing com-
pany, passed March fifth, eighteen hundred and forty-
six, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered
by authority of the same to purchase and hold lands in
one or more tracts in the county of Montgomery and
State of Maryland, not exceeding two thousand acres.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall be in
force from the passing thereof.

CHAPTER 254.

A further supplement to an act passed at December ses-

sion, hundred and forty-one, chapter one hun-
dred and eighty-two, entitled, an act to provide for the
election of the Commissioners of Montgomery county

by the people.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That on the first Wednesday in October in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
forty-eight, and on the first Wednesday in October in
every second year thereafter, the persons qualified to
vote for Delegates to the General Assembly in Mont-
gomery county, shall at the time and places of holding
elections in said county, vote by ballot for five persons
as commissioners for Montgomery, county, and upon the
final casting of the polls the persons who shall appear
to have the greatest number of legal votes shall be de-
clared and returned duly elected commissioners of Mont-

gomery county for the term of two years.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all laws contrary

to the provisions of this act be and the are here-

by repealed.
