An act entitled, an act to repeat the act entitled, an act to
raise additional revenue to aid in paying the debts of
the State, by laying a tax on salaries, incomes, emol-
uments and profits, passed at December session eigh-
teen hundred and forty-one, chapter three hundred
and twenty-five, and its several supplements.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the acts of eighteen hundred and forty-one, chap-
ter three hundred and twenty-five, of eighteen hundred
and forty-two, chapter two hundred and ninety-four, of
eighteen hundred and forty-three, chapter three hundred
and seven, and of eighteen hundred and forty-four,
chapter two hundred and fifty-three, be and the same are
hereby repealed.

An act to authorise the Great Falls Manufacturing com-
pany to purchase real property in Montgomery coun-
ty.

WHEREAS, In and by an act of the Legislature of Vir-
ginia, passed on the fourth day of February, eighteen
hundred and thirty-nine, Thomas Ap Catesby Jones,
William A. Bruelby and Hall Neilson, and such, other
persons as may be associated with them, are declared
and made by the said act a body politic and corporate,
under the name and style of the Great Falls Manufac-
turing company, and are permitted by the said act of in-
corporation to hold lands in the county of Fairfax, and
State of Virginia, at and near the Great Falls of the
Potomac river, not exceeding three thousand acres,
which act was revived and amended by an act entitled,
an act to incorporate the Great Falls Manufacturing
company, passed March fifth, eighteen hundred and
forty-six; and whereas, the citizens of the county of
Montgomery, in the State of Maryland, in common with
the citizens of the county of Fairfax, in the State of
Virginia, feel a deep interest in the success and pros-
perity of the said Great Falls Manufacturing company;
and whereas, it is necessary to the operations of the
said company that they should be permitted by the
