1847.

CHAPTER 251.

An act authorising the appointment of an Inspector and

Wood Corder, and to regulate the cording of fire wood
brought for sale by the cars otherwise, to Clarks-

ville, in Baltimore county, and its vicinity.

CHAP. 251.

March 9, 1848.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, by and with the consent

of the Senate, shall immediately alter the passage of this
act, and every second year thereafter, appoint one inspec-
tor and corder of fire wood, brought by the rail road cars,
or by wagons or carts, and delivered between the four-
teenth and sixteenth miles on the Baltimore and Susque-
hanna rail road, and within the space of one half mile
on the east and west side of said road for sale.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said inspector
and wood corder hereafter to be appointed, before he
enters upon the execution of his office, shall make the
following oath or affirmation, as the case may be, before
some person authorised to administer the same I, A. B.,
do swear or affirm that I will faithfully, truly and im-
partially, according to the best of my judgment, skill
and understanding, execute, do and perform the duty of
inspector and wood corder, according to the true intent
and meaning of the laws of this State relative to the
same, so help me God."

To take an

oath.

SEC.. 3. And be it enacted, That the said inspector
and wood corder for examining and measuring fire
wood in the bounds as laid down by the first section of

this act, shall receive one sixteenth of dollar for each
and every cord go measured by him, to be paid by the
seller thereof, and the said inspector and wood corder,
either by himself or any other person or persons whom-
soever, shall not buy, trade or barter for any fire wood

on the way to, or brought to the said Clarksville, or

within the bounds prescribed by this act, other than for
his own family's use.

Compensation

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if any person or

persons bringing any fire wood by rail road ears or
otherwise to the said Clarksville, or the limits prescrib-
ed by this ant, for sale, shall consume the same before
it has been corded and measured by the said inspector
and wood corder appointed by virtue of this act, or
shall neglect or refuse to have the same corded and
measured,or after the same has been measured shall alter
the measurement, or sell the same by other measurement,
or if any person or persons shall knowingly purchase
