CHAP. 250.
|
annual salary of fifteen hundred dollars, to be paid as
the salaries of other civil officers are, or may, be paid
and for the purchase of chemical implements and ma-
terials the said Chemist shall be allowed for the first
year the sum of two hundred dollars in advance, and
on each succeeding year a sum not exceeding fifty dol-
lars, out of such monies as may be in the treasury, and
not otherwise appropriated.

CHAPTER 250.
A further supplement to an act concerning the draining of
swamps and low grounds, by the laying out and opening
of public ditches in Worcester, Queen Anne's and Dor-
chester counties, passed at December session eighteen
hundred and forty-four, chapter two hundred and
seventy-eight.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That whenever in any proceedings which
has been or may hereafter be commenced by any per-
son or persons under the provisions of the act to which
this is a supplement, it shall and may be lawful for the
county commissioners, levy court or county court, as the
case may be, of the county in which said proceedings
shall have been or may hereafter be commenced, or may
be pending at any time before a final decision is made
by said county commissioners, levy court or county
court, as the case may be, upon the application of either
party to said proceeding to grant leave in their discre-
tion to said party to amend the petition, or any part what-
ever of said proceedings thereunder that shall or may be
discovered to be defective or informal, so as to bring the
true merits of the case fairly before said county com-
missioners, levy court, county court or jury for trial.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the county commis-
sioners, levy court or county court, as the case may be,
granting such amendment, shall have power to award
cost in their discretion in all such cases, according to
the equity and right of the matter.
