CHAPTER 233.

CHAP. 233.

A further supplement to an act entitled, an act for the
appointment of commissioners for the regulation and
improvement of Salisbury, in Somerset and Worcester
Counties.

March 9, 1848.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the act entitled, an act 1o provide lor
the appointment of commissioners for the regulation and
improvement of Salisbury, in Somerset and Worcester
counties, passed at November session eighteen hundred
and twelve, be and the same is hereby revived and
declared to be in full force, except such parts as are in-
consistent with this act.

Revived.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That seven judicious and
discreet persons residing in the said town or within five
miles thereof, shall be elected by ballot on the fourth
Monday in April in the year eighteen hundred and
forty-eight, at the house of Edward Dymock, Esquire,
in the said town, by the free white male inhabitants
thereof above the age of one and twenty years, and
having resided within the limits of the said town for
the space one year next preceding the election, and by
such other persons as are hereinafter authorised to vote
at such election, and the seven persons who shall ap-
pear to have the greatest number of votes at the close
of the election shall be declared to be duly elected the
commissioners of the said town, and shall have and exer-
cise the several powers and authorities delegated to
them by this act, and every free white male person
above the age of one and twenty years, and having real
estate within the limits of the said town, shall likewise
have a right to vote in the election of the said com-
missioners, notwithstanding such person may not be
resident therein.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
shall meet on the first Monday of May next after their
election, at such place as a majority of them shall fix
upon in said town, and shall arrange and number them-
selves into three classes by lot, the first class to con-
sist of three, the second class of two and the third
class of two, the office of the first class to expire at the
end of one year from their election, the office of the
second class at the expiration of two years from their
election, and the office of the third class at the expira-
tion of three years from their election, and the vacancy
thus successively occasioned by the expiration of the
