CHAP. 187.

lin Bank of Baltimore shall, on or before the first day
of January next, at a general meeting called for that
purpose, declare their acceptance of this act, the same
shall thereafter be a part of the charter of said bank.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the charter of the
said Franklin Bank of Baltimore shall be extended
until the end of the year eighteen hundred and seventy-
seven.

An act entitled, an act to establish Public Schools in
Baltimore County.
|
|
|
|
To establish
public schools.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the commissioners of Baltimore coun-
ty be and they are hereby authorised and directed to
establish public schools in said county.
|
|
|
|
To levy a tax.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
Baltimore county shall have full power and authority
to levy a tax not exceeding four cents on the hundred
dollars upon the assessable property of said county,
said tax when collected to be applied to the support of
the public schools authorised to be established by the
first section of this act, and for no other purpose.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the present school
fund belonging to said county, and all other funds which
existing laws grant for educational purposes in said
county, shall be applied to the use of the public schools.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the treasurer of
Baltimore county be and he is hereby authorised to re-
ceive all devises, bequests and donations which may be
made for the benefit of said public schools, and to pay
the same over to the person or persons authorised to
receive the same, in the manner hereinafter to be pro-
vided.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of Baltimore county shall appoint one person from each
election district in said county, in the month of May in
each and every year, to be called the board of school
commissioners for said county, who shall continue in
office for one year, and from the end of that time until their
