the best of his knowledge, and each commissioner
shall before he acts as such take an oath or affirmation,
as the case may be, before some justice of the peace for
the county aforesaid, that he will faithfully and honestly,
to the best of his skill and judgment, exercise the
powers given, and discharge the duties required of him
by this law as a commissioner of the Point Rocks,
impartially, and without favor or resentment to any,
and without delay.

CHAP. 180.
|

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the said burgess
shall be the treasurer for the said corporation, and
shall give bond to the said corporate body, with security
to be approved by the commissioners, or a majority
of them, in such penalty as they shall fix, conditioned
for the faithful performance of his duty as treasurer,
and he shall receive and pay away all monies that he
shall be directed to receive and pay away by the ordi-
nances to be passed by the said commissioners, or a
majority of them.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the limits of said
town for all purposes except taxation by the laws of
the corporation, shall be as follows, commencing at the
Knawha spring at the margin of the Potomac river, and
with said river westerly one mile, thence in a northerly
direction with the Catoctin Mountain three-fourths of
a mile, and thence with a straight line to the place of;
beginning, and that the taxable limits of the said town
shall be as follows, including all that part of the town
now improved or which the citizens may at any time

hereafter improve; provided, that in no instance it may
exceed. the corporate limits as laid down in this sec-
tion.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the sheriff of
Frederick county shall receive and safe keep in the
jail of said county, all persons who shall hereafter be
committed to said jail by the burgess of the town
of the Point of Rocks, or any justice, of the peace of
Frederick county for a violation of any of the ordi-
nances of the burgess and commissioners of the Point,
of Rocks, or for non-payment of any fine of forfeiture
which may be enforced by the said burgess or. any jus-
tice of the peace of Frederick county for, a violation
of any of the ordinances of said corporation,
according to the tenor of said commitment until
discharged by due course of law, or by payment of the
fine, forfeiture and cost.
