tees as hereinafter provided for, to appoint at their first
meeting after the time of said election four trustees for
such district, and the old trustees in every such district
shall continue to act until the appointments herein pro-
vided for shall have been made.

CHAP. 172.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall he the duty
of said board of primary education to appoint, on the
first Tuesday in May next, or as early thereafter as is
practicable, a trustee for each and every school district
of said county, with instructions to said trustees to give
the notice now required by law, and to cause an election
to be held in their respective school district on the last
Monday in June annually, to elect four other trustees for
the said school district, and report the result of such
election to said board of primary education, on or before
the fifteenth day of July following.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the board of com-
missioners of Worcester county shall, after the passage
of this act, annually authorise and direct the agent of the
school fund of said county to pay all orders of the said
board of primary education, semi-annually, for the pur-
poses of education, building school houses, rent of school
houses, purchase of land for the site of school houses,

and contingent expenses; provided the same in the ag-
gregate shall not exceed the sum of thirty-five hundred
dollars in any one year, unless that sum shall be, satis-
factorily ascertained by the said board of primary
education and reported to the said commissioners to be
sufficient for the objects and purposes aforesaid, then and
in that case, upon the report and application of said
board of primary education to said commissioners, they
shall be and they are hereby authorised to allow any
further amount of said school fund to-be appropriated as
aforesaid for the objects aforesaid, which the said board
of primary education may require.

Proviso.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the agent of the
school fund of said county shall report to the commis-
sioners of the said county the amount in his hands at
the end of the last fiscal year, which may have been
heretofore appropriated to the school districts in
the said county by the said board of primary education
for the purposes of education, and which not having

been used remains in his hands for the benefit of the
said several districts, which amount the said commis-
sioners shall direct the said agent to add to the grand
school fund of said county, and invest the same as said
fund may now be invested.
