CHAPTER 164.
An act to lay off and establish a new Election District
in Washington County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Doctor Frederick Dorsey, Henry
Firery, David Zeller, Henry Fouke and George
Cashwer, be and they are appointed commis-
sioners to lay off and establish a new election district in
Washington county, to be formed out of and taken from
the Hagerstown and Clearspring districts, known and
designated as numbers three and four, in said county,
and the said new election district, when so laid off, to
be called and known as district number ten.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said commissioners,
or a majority of them, shall meet together at such time
and place as the first named commissioner herein named
may designate by public advertisement, and when so
met, they or such majority, shall proceed with all con-
venient despatch, to lay off and mark with clearly de-
fined boundaries, such new district, having first taken
an oath, before some qualified justice of the peace, well
and faithfully, without partiality or favor to any one,
execute the trust hereby reposed in them, to the best of
their skill and judgment, and when so laid off and desig-
nated, they or a majority of them, shall return, under
their hands and seals, to the clerk of the court of the
county aforesaid, an account of their proceedings, to be
by him recorded among the land records of the
County.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the place of hold-
ing the election for such new district, shall be at what
is now known and called Cunningham's Cross roads,
and in some house or convenient place thereat, of which
due notice shall be given by the sheriff of said county,
and that the board of commissioners for said county
shall appoint, as well the judges of election for said
new district, as all other officers to which by law they
are entitled and required to appoint, and it shall be
the duty of said board of commissioners to allow such
compensation as to them may appear reasonable and
proper, incurred in the laying off said district, and the
costs and charges incident thereto.

SEC. 4 And be it further enacted, That said district shall
be laid off, and due return thereof made to said clerk
of the county court, on or before the first Monday of
May next.
