CHAPTER 105.
An act for the relief of John Matthew, John G. Chap-
man and John D. Freeman, securities for Joseph
Stone, late Collector of State Taxes for Charles
County,

Time extend-
ed.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time for the payment of the direct and income
tax, and all taxes due the State for the year, eighteen
hundred and forty-five, by Joseph Stone, late collector
for Charles county, be extended to the first day of Jan-
uary, eighteen hundred and forty-eight, the State re-
serving to itself all its rights and remedies against said
sureties, notwithstanding the provisions of this act; and
that no proceedings shall be had upon the bond of the
said Joseph Stone, late collector as aforesaid, until after
the said first day of January, eighteen hundred and
forty-eight.

An act to make valid the official proceedings of Thomas
Gregg, a Justice of the Peace of Allegany County.
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it has been represented to this General
Assembly, that Thomas Gregg, of Allegany county, has
been acting as a justice of the peace, under commission
issued to John Gregg; and whereas, no such individual
as John Gregg resides in Allegany county, and it is be-
lieved by this General Assembly that the said commission
was intended for Thomas Gregg— Therefore,

Acts valid.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the acts of Thomas Gregg, as justice of the
peace in Allegany county be, and the same are hereby
declared to be as binding and valid in law, as if the
commission issued by the Governor had been in the
name of Thomas Gregg.
