1846.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall have power to take and hold real and personal
property not exceeding in value at any one time the sum
of twenty thousand dollars, which property shall never
be divided among the members of said corporation, but
shall descend to their successors, to he applied for the
relief of sick and distressed members of said corpora-
tion, the education, of the children of deceased members,
and for the promotion of these objects generally.

CHAP. 104.

May hold real
and personal
property.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the corporation afore-
said, shall have power to alter and amend the by-laws
thereof at pleasure; provided, that such alteration and
amendment do not in any way conflict with the laws of
the State of Maryland, the laws of the United States, or
the laws of the Grand Division of the Sons of Tempe-
rance of the State of Maryland.

Proviso.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall not be allowed to issue any note, token, device,
scrip or other evidence of debt, to be used as currency.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpo-
ration shall enure for forty years from the passage there-
of, and the Legislature reserves to itself the right to alter
and annul the same at pleasure.

CHAPTER 104.

An act to change the name of the Canada Fire Company
of Cumberland, to that of the Cumberland Hose
Company.

Passed Jan.
14, 1847.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the name of the Canada Fire Com-
pany, of the town of Cumberland, in Allegany county,
be, and the same is hereby changed to that of the Cum-
berland Hose Company.

Name chang-
ed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Cumberland
Hose Company shall have and exercise all the rights,
benefits and privileges conferred upon the Canada Fire
Company, of the town of Cumberland, in Allegany
county, by an act passed by the General Assembly of
Maryland, at December session, eighteen hundred and
forty-two, chapter one hundred and thirty-seven, entitled,
an act to incorporate the Canada Fire Company, of the
town of Cumberland, in Allegany county.
