THOMAS G. PRATT, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1846.

of March, eighteen hundred and forty-six, execute and
acknowledge a deed to a certain Thomas Burch, of said
county, for pans of a tract of land called Chillum

CHAP. 92.

Castle Manor, lying in Prince George's county; and
whereas, it was neglected to have the qualifications of
the justices of the peace, before whom said acknowledg-
ment was taken, certified to by the clerk of said county,
previous to taking the acknowledgment of said deed —
Therefore,

Proviso.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said deed be, and the same is hereby declared
to be as effectual and valid in law and equity, as if the
qualifications of the justices before whom the said deed
was acknowledged, had been regularly certified to by
the clerk of Prince George's county court at the time of
the execution thereof, and previously to its being record-
ed among the land records of said county.

CHAPTER 92.

An act concerning the Land Office.

25, 1847.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in any cause, dispute or matter in the Land Office,
usually cognizable by the Chancellor as Judge of the
Land Office, in which the Chancellor for the time being
may have been counsel, or have given his opinion, or
may be interested, or related to the parties interested,
and on that account may conceive that he cannot con-
scientiously act thereon, and shall so certify in writing,
the same shall be heard by the Chief Judge of the Third
Judicial District, or one of the Associate Judges thereof,
or by the court thereof, at the election of any party to
such cause, dispute or matter, and all interlocutory and
other orders in such cases shall be made by the said
Chief Judge, or Associate, or court, which orders shall
have the same effect as if made by the Chancellor in his
capacity as Judge of the Land Office.
