CHAP. 91.

have power to repeal or alter any by-laws made by the
President and Managers, and also to make such new by-
laws, rules and regulations as the holders of a majority
of the whole number of shares of the stock shall deter-
mine upon, conformably to the limitations and restric-
tions of this act.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the General Assem-
bly of Maryland hereby reserves, the right to repeal, alter
or amend this act at pleasure.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act,
be construed so as to authorise the said corporation to
issue any note, token, device, scrip, or other evidence of
debt, to he used as a currency.

CHAPTER 90.

Passed Feb.

23, 1847.

An act prohibiting the granting of Licenses for the sale
of Ardent Spirits within the limits therein mentioned.

Not lawful for
clerk to issue
license.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That, from and after the passage of this act, it shall not
be lawful for the clerk of Montgomery county court, to
issue a license to any person or persons, to sell ardent
spirits at any place within three miles of the line of the
District of Columbia, on or near either of the roads
leading from Georgetown, in said District, to Brookville,
Frederick city or Seneca Mills, without an order from
one of the judges of said court, who is hereby autho-
rised to grant such order, if he shall be satisfied, from
the representation in writing of respectable inhabitants
in the neighborhood, of the necessity and propriety of
granting such license, any law to the contrary notwith-
standing.

An act to make valid a Deed of Conveyance from Na-
thaniel M. McGregor and Wife, to Thomas Burch.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
that a certain Nathaniel M. McGregor and Susan E. his
