LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 56.

associated with them, and their successors be, and they
are hereby incorporated and made a body politic and cor-
porate, fur the purpose of moral improvement and mutual
beneficial aid and support, by the name and style of the
Baltimore United Hebrew Assistant Society, and by that
name shall be able and capable in law, to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, defend and be defended,
answer and be answered in any court of law or equity,
and may make and use a common seal, and the some to
alter and change at pleasure, and to ordain and establish
such by-laws and regulations as may be necessary and
convenient for the conducting the affairs of the said in-
corporation: provided, that the same be not contrary to
the laws of this State, or the United States.

May hold real
and personal
property.

SEC. 2, And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall be capable in law to have, take, receive and hold
property, real and personal, and the same to dispose of
at pleasure; provided always, that the said corporation

shall not at any time hold or possess property, real, per-
sonal or mixed, exceeding in value the sum of ten thou-
sand dollars.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall he so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token, device or other evidence of debt
to be used as current money.

In force for 30
years.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue
in force for the term of thirty years from the date of its
enactment; provided, that the Legislature may at any
time hereafter, when it may be thought expedient, alter,
amend, repeal or annul the same at their pleasure.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Lewis Fletcher, J. R. Humphries, Christian Deaner,
Lewis H. Burkhart, Michael Beard. D. W. Brish, W. J.
Fletcher, Daniel Smith, J. P. Quinn, Thomas Myers, T.
L. Burkhart, John Stonesifer, John W. Cross, John
Fague, Jacob Bowers, Richard White, Hiram Beard,
