compensation now allowed them by law for each days at-
tendance at any election in said county, two dollars per
diem, and the judge making the return of said election,
shall be allowed for making said return one days pay,
except when the place of holding the election of which
the return is made, shall be more than ten miles from the
place where said return is made, the returning judge
shall be allowed two days per diem for making said

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the visiters of the jail,
and trustees of the poor of said county, shall receive, in
in lieu of all compensation now allowed them by law,
one dollar per diem (and mileage as at present allowed)
for each and every day on which they shall attend as
such at the jail and alms house of said county.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of
acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act be, and
the same ate hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 52.

Repealed.

An act to alter and change the name of Henry Dovelin,
of Baltimore County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of Henry Dovelin, a citizen of Maryland,
and a resident of Baltimore county be, and the same is
hereby altered and changed to Henry John Hawkins,
and it shall be lawful for the said Henry John Hawkins,
at all times hereafter to be called and known by and hold
and use the name of Henry John Hawkins, and by that
name shall have the right to purchase, sell, convey,
devise, or receive by bequest, any properly hereafter
devised, to sue and be sued, in any court of law and
equity.
