1846.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That all the school funds
received from the State shall be distributed among the
several schools as is now provided by law, and that no-
thing in this act shall be so construed so as to repeal the
act of eighteen hundred and forty-three, chapter fifty-
one.

CHAP. 354.

Fund to be
distributed.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That when said school
shall have been organised according to the provisions of
this act, they shall be, and are hereby declared to be
free schools tor all the white citizens in said school dis-
tricts.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect and be in force on and after its passage, and all
acts inconsistent with this act he, and the same are hera-
by abrogated and repealed.

CHAPTER 354.

Repealed.

An act to incorporate the Phoenix Manufacturing Com-
pany.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Thomas H. Fulton, Richard Sewell,
George Baughman, L. Stansbury and G. Drady, their as-
sociates, successors and assigns, are hereby made and de-
clared to be a body corporate, by the name of the Phoe-
nix Manufacturing Company, and by that name may sue
nnd be sued in any court of law or equity, and may make
and use a common seal, and alter the same at pleasure,
and may have and use all the rights, powers and privi-
leges necessary and proper for manufacturing cotton,
wool, iron, cotton machinery and other articles, and for
vending the same wben made, and to purchase, hold and
use real and personal estate, and to construct such build-
ings and improvements on their land as may be necessa-
ry to carry on their said business, and the said estate or
any part thereof, to sell and convey or otherwise dispose
of as they may deem proper, and generally to do all such
acts, and to pass and enforce such by-laws and regulations
as may be necessary and proper for conducting the busi-
ness of said corporation, the same not being contrary to
the provisions of this act.

said company shall be divided into shares of one hundred
