LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 287.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That George I. Fischer, William R. San-
derson, Frederick A. Schley, John P. Thomson, Edward
Shriver, Moses Worman and Samuel Tyler, and their
successors in office, elected in the manner hereinafter
provided, shall be, and they hereby are incorporated and
made a body politic, by the name of the Trustees of the
Westminster Free School Society of the Presbyterian
Church, in Frederick-town, and by that name shall have
perpetual succession, and be capable in law of receiving
and holding, in trust, and nf using and disposing of, as
is hereinafter provided, nil kinds of gifts, grants, con-
veyances and donations, devises and bequests of estate,
real, personal and mixed property and effects, not ex-
ceeding in amount ten thousand dollars; and by the said
name may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, an-
swer and defend; may have and use a common seal, and
the same may alter and renew at pleasure; and may
exercise all the other powers incident to corporations
aggregate, and all powers authorised by this act, and in
such manner as they, or a majority of them, may think
proper, subject nevertheless, to the control and direction
of the managers hereinafter provided for, as to the dis-
position and application of the estate, property, effects
and funds which the said trustees shall so hold or have
in trust, in virtue of this act.

Shall meet an-
nually.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the members of the
Westminster Free School Society of Fredericktown
aforesaid, shall meet annually, on the first Saturday of
January, or on such other days, and at such place in
Fredericktown, as the rules or by-laws of the society
shall provide, and elect twenty of said society to
inanage its concerns for one year, and until a new election
under the provisions of this act shall be made; and until
such election shall be made, the above named Mary L.
Thomson, Elizabeth Shriver, Rebecca McCleery, Su-
sannah McLanahan, Margaret Sanderson, Mary White,
Eleanor Reynolds, Mary Catharine Reynolds, Emeline
Reigart, Margaret Eichelberger, Margaret Hart, Eliza-
beth Bailey and Eliza Mantz, shall be managers of said

society; and the said managers, and those elected here-
after as foresaid, or a majority of them, shall have
power to fill all vacancies in their own board, and in the
board of trustees, incorporated as aforesaid, so as to
continue the succession of the said trustees; to elect a
president, a treasurer, and such other officers of said
society as they may deem necessary; to provide for and
